In Memoriam: Marie-Helen Lessard

It is with great sadness that the Ontario Equestrian Federation announces the death of Marie-Helen Lessard, a respected competitor, coach, judge, official, horse show organizer and volunteer. Lessard, 49, and her husband, Steven Ratz, 57, were killed in a car crash on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 on Dufferin County Road 10 near their home in Amaranth Township. Known to friends as MH, Lessard operated Equus 3D Equestrian Centre and is remembered for her unwavering commitment to furthering equestrian sport. An Equine Canada mentor, learning facilitator…

Jump Canada is proud to announce this year’s inductees into the Jump Canada Hall of Fame.  Returning to its traditional festive format, the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Gala, presented by BMO Financial Group, will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at the Liberty Grand in Toronto, ON. Ontario names riders for Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships

The Ontario Equestrian Federation is pleased to announce the riders who will be representing the province at the upcoming Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships, which take place from Oct. 3-5 in Blainville, QC. Teams will be comprised of two junior and two senior riders representing Ontario in the disciplines of Jumping, Dressage and Reining. Equine Guelph and the University of Guelph are conducting a study on the awareness of current research among members of Ontario’s horse industry – the study aims to measure who in the equine industry is accessing University of Guelph research, how they are accessing it, and whether the information changes their practices. The Canadian Show Jumping Team comprised of Ben Asselin, Tiffany Foster, Eric Lamaze and Ian Millar clinched victory in the $300,000 BMO Nations’ Cup held Saturday, September 13, at the CSIO5* Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ tournament in Calgary, AB.
