Canada hosts international equestrian event for young riders

Young equestrians from around the globe will be visiting Ontario the first two weeks of August for an international pony club event known as the Inter-Pacific Exchange. This event will bring teams of riders and coaches to Ontario for competitions, friendship building and sharing of Canadian culture. The Ontario Equestrian Federation is currently accepting athlete declaration forms to represent Ontario at the Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships (CIEC) from Sept. 25-27 at Wesley Clover Park in Ottawa. The CIEC is a collaborative event between the national and provincial sport organizations governing equestrian competition. The Ontario Equestrian Federation (OEF) is now accepting applications for its OEF Youth Bursary program, which helps deserving youth reach their equestrian goals. Each year the OEF proudly offers a minimum of five $1,000 bursaries to junior members. The program is open to all junior members of the OEF between the ages of 14 and 17 as of Jan. 1 of the bursary year. In the first-ever para-equestrian competition held at NAJYRC, Team Canada, comprised of veteran, Madison Lawson of King City, ON, and future stars, Sara Cummings of Cranbrook, BC, and Nel Godin-Keating of Dartmouth, NS, was awarded with the team silver medal.
