Clean Sport

The OEF strongly promotes clean sport in all equestrian disciplines and advocates an equal playing field for all participants in OEF/EC recognized events in order to encourage horsemanship, ensure the welfare of horses and maintain and nurture public interest in equestrian events.

The OEF enforces the current medication control rules in the Ontario and ensures that random drug testing takes place at competitions held throughout the province. The OEF Drugs and Medications committee is responsible for hiring appropriate personnel to obtain the necessary samples at horse competitions, assigns drug technicians to competitions for the purpose of obtaining urine and/or blood samples for testing, maintains current knowledge on new drugs being developed that may not adhere to the current medication control rules and is accountable for the funds collected.

Please visit the Equine Canada Equine Medication Control webpage for regulations, a description of permitted medications and updates.
