Two Horses Confirmed Infected with Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) in New Mexico (NM), United States — Import Restrictions Updated

Ottawa, ON—Two horses in the state of New Mexico, Otero County, were confirmed with Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) on April 20, 2012.  This is the first detection of active VS in the United States since 2010. The World Organization for Animal Health has posted a notification on its web site at: http://bit.ly/IJcDah. Canada is currently free of vesicular stomatitis. It was last diagnosed in Canada in 1949.
